Righteousness has been rightly described as right standing with God. But there’s another description; it’s the rightness of God at work in the human person—divinity manifested in humanity. Put more succinctly, righteousness is God’s life and love at work in you.
It’s a fact of the Gospel that the Father has given us His own righteousness; we can now stand in His presence without guilt, condemnation or inferiority. He’s given us His rightness, His ability to do right, so we can live in consonance with Him. We don’t have to struggle to please Him; it’s our life and nature now to live before Him in righteousness and true holiness (Ephesians 4:24).
Romans 5:1 says, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:” Now, we think, talk and act the same way. The Bible says, ”…they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:17). Our right standing with God gives us the ability to reign as kings in this present world. We reign over demons, over this world and its systems.
Besides, not only did God make us righteous, He did something else which is so powerful and mind-blowing. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” Jesus took our place of sin and made us His righteousness. We’re thus the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Amazing!
This means we’re now the unveiling of the Father’s righteousness; the manifestation and outworking of His righteousness. When you step into a matter, you’re not there to decide who is wrong and who is right; rather, you bring forth the judgments of God. You’re His righteousness manifested, and the unveiling of His glory. Blessed be God!
